The End Of An Era

I have today just received this message.

Friday, May 21, 2010 9:36 AM

It is with deep regret that I have to tell you about the end of an era. ‘Coppull Open Mic’ is no more.

We have just come to the end of the line to be honest and need a break from sorting it out. That is not to say that it won’t return.

I will keep you up to date as we are thinking about doing similar stuff to the Irish night maybe a 60s evening or something like that but I’ll let you know when Harry and Ste have come up with something.

All the best and keep it live

Tim

Bum Chaka Laka Laka Buns and Cakes

The place was sold out and, as well as a bit of money for Derian House, the roof was well and truly raised. More pictures to follow, hopefully.

St Patricks Gig in aid of Derian House

Coppull Open Mic is going to have a proper gig, with a line-up of guests and songs that have actually been rehearsed! This is a St Patrick's Day celebration but, just to confuse you, it will be on Saturday 20th March from 8pm, tickets £2 with all proceeds going to Derian House Children's Hospice.

Just to put this in perspective, an anonymous donor has already given Fifty Pounds. I can't tell you who it is, but it's definitely not Michael Ashcroft.

So if you're in the mood for a party, some good live music and helping out a good cause, get your teeth in, put your wig on and come down.

Dang!

Unfortunately I missed the last Open Mic Night owing to "a subsequent engagement." (I had to go and have my toenails trimmed.) Anyone with any pictures please send them to me or join the blog and post them yourself. It's easy to do, just email for an invitataion and within seconds you too could be writing this waffle.

The next session is Wed Dec 16th before that Jolly Old Guy comes around calling on our houses (and burgling them.)

What's Wrong With This Picture?

So what is wrong with this picture? Yes that's right, you've spotted it - there are no less than three left-handed players, including the drummer. Not that there's anything really wrong with that!

In fact last Wednesday was a really busy night with a whole bunch of bands, three drummers (including one lady on the sticks and skins) and we still found space to ram in a packed audience somewhere.

Here are some picture of what went on. Even Syd had got together with his Not Vicious Band.

The next meeting will be at 9 o'clock on Wednesday the 25th November - it seems we may be sticking with the last Wednesday in the month from now on though goodness knows what is going to be happening over Christmas.

Please note that anybody at all can leave comments on the site - and if you want to post your own news and/or pictures, that's possible too. Just drop us an email at CoppullOpenMic@Live.Co.Uk and we'll sort something out in a jiffy,

It's the 28th!!!

As stated below, the next Open Mic night was subject to confirmation. IT IS NOW CONFIRMED THAT THE NEXT OPEN NIGHT IS WEDNESDAY 28TH OCTOBER, and not the 21st as speculated.
Hope you all got that, and we'll see you there.

From Strength to Strength

Coppull Open Mic nights are going from strength to strength. Last Wed nesday, 23rd September, there were new acts and musicians along with the ever-present regulars.

Neil, the demon drummer from Bury, joined us again and gave backing for the rockier numbers, while softer ballads also got an airing.

This gives a great mix of music to listen to for the audience. Besides that and free butties, we have more performers on the way.

We're also getting some great jam sessions going with performers swapping from band to band!

If you feel like having a go, just drop in. To contact us, see details alongside. The next session is Wednesday 21st October (STC.)

As Thomas à Beckett once said, the nights are drawing in - so come and join us at Coppull Open Mic for a great evening.
