Dang!

Unfortunately I missed the last Open Mic Night owing to "a subsequent engagement." (I had to go and have my toenails trimmed.) Anyone with any pictures please send them to me or join the blog and post them yourself. It's easy to do, just email for an invitataion and within seconds you too could be writing this waffle.

The next session is Wed Dec 16th before that Jolly Old Guy comes around calling on our houses (and burgling them.)

What's Wrong With This Picture?

So what is wrong with this picture? Yes that's right, you've spotted it - there are no less than three left-handed players, including the drummer. Not that there's anything really wrong with that!

In fact last Wednesday was a really busy night with a whole bunch of bands, three drummers (including one lady on the sticks and skins) and we still found space to ram in a packed audience somewhere.

Here are some picture of what went on. Even Syd had got together with his Not Vicious Band.

The next meeting will be at 9 o'clock on Wednesday the 25th November - it seems we may be sticking with the last Wednesday in the month from now on though goodness knows what is going to be happening over Christmas.

Please note that anybody at all can leave comments on the site - and if you want to post your own news and/or pictures, that's possible too. Just drop us an email at CoppullOpenMic@Live.Co.Uk and we'll sort something out in a jiffy,

It's the 28th!!!

As stated below, the next Open Mic night was subject to confirmation. IT IS NOW CONFIRMED THAT THE NEXT OPEN NIGHT IS WEDNESDAY 28TH OCTOBER, and not the 21st as speculated.
Hope you all got that, and we'll see you there.

From Strength to Strength

Coppull Open Mic nights are going from strength to strength. Last Wed nesday, 23rd September, there were new acts and musicians along with the ever-present regulars.

Neil, the demon drummer from Bury, joined us again and gave backing for the rockier numbers, while softer ballads also got an airing.

This gives a great mix of music to listen to for the audience. Besides that and free butties, we have more performers on the way.

We're also getting some great jam sessions going with performers swapping from band to band!

If you feel like having a go, just drop in. To contact us, see details alongside. The next session is Wednesday 21st October (STC.)

As Thomas à Beckett once said, the nights are drawing in - so come and join us at Coppull Open Mic for a great evening.

Good Golly! - A Drummer!

Drumming up support for the rest of the string strummers was Neil, making a welcome debut on drums, at last month's Open Mic Night. Neil had brought his tom-toms all the way over from Bury and accompanied just about every act on in the evening, giving a real kick to proceedings, and showed no problem backing songs he'd never even heard before!

Sadly, no-one had thought to bring a camera on this particular night to get photographic evidence, so you'll just have to take our word for it.

Hopefully he will be back for this month's session, Wednesday, September 23rd, from 9 o'clock onwards. Everybody welcome, players and watchers alike.

Meanwhile, here are some pictures from May's session unseen up to now. When you see how talented the audience are, just imagine what the musicians sound like.

(Or you might not have to - I'm hoping to add a video clip to this post -fingers crossed!)

Oops! - Date change

Coppull Open Mic will not be meeting tonight after all. The meeting has been moved backwards to next week, Wednesday 24th June.

At least we bring you the latest news here!

Oh, And, By The Way...

Anyone who comes to Coppull Open Mic - and I do mean ANYONE - can post comments and pictures on this site. (However, abusive things won't get through, so no fighting, boys and girls.)

For example, if you want to put down what songs you did next to a picture of yourself, you can, and it would create a jolly useful record of what's been going on that we can all look back on in our old age, blah drone (how DARE you say we're already are OLD!?!)

Just send an email by the address coppullopenmic@live.co.uk and you will get back an invitation to 'join' the site as a blogger, then off you go!

(Of course, most people get horribly confused at this point and end up sending their laundry list to Nicolas Sarkozy, but we can 'iron out' such problems... Alright, that wasn't very funny but you're welcome to try to do better.)

Just drop me a line and you'll be sorted.

We're Back!

In fact, we never went away. It's just that your trusty reporter was unable to attend the last session and my spy network did not get back to me with adequately detailed reports.

Whatever, it was all systems go again the third Wednesday in the month, which on this occasion was 20th May.

It was an impressively busy night, with a generous smattering of handsome new faces going through their paces. In fact, you can't help wondering what would happen if everybody who's ever been showed, the regulars along with the frequent, along with the occasional visitor from outer space (well - further than Wigan at any rate.)

Not to worry - we hope that many more people will put in an appearance - and as you can see, the folk aready there are a friendly bunch - at the next Open Mic night, which is Wedensday 17th June.

Hope to see you there. Now take a look at us in these hot-off-the-presses pics.

Breaking News - Change of Date

Without so much as a blink of the eye, the next meeting of Coppull Open Mic has been put back to Wednesday 22nd April.

This might be a good night for novices to come down, as there is a strong possibility the news has not got round to most of the regulars!

18th March 2009

Phew, What A Corker!
This evening at Coppull Open Mic was really busy, with a great line-up of artists performing a wide variety of songs. This doesn't mean there isn't room for more. Besides performers, all are welcome to come and listen - the audience is a friendly bunch and the drinks are cheap.

There was a rumour going around that maybe last month was a bit quiet because there was confusion about the date of the meeting which was the next-to-last Wednesday in the month. This has now been changed. We now get together on the third Wednesday.

Normally this would make no difference - only when there are five Wednesdays causes a shift. As it happens, this April is one of those months as it starts on a Wednesday. So, please note: are next meeting is Wednesday 15th April. Please come along and jon in the fun.

A new development was we had a keyboard player - however, an attempt to play along to a drum machine for a bit of Elton John style rock'n'roll was a failure! Ah well, ballads are just as good. So if there's any drummers out there, or any other musicians - on oboe, didgeridoo or krumhorn, come along. You are welcome to a solo spot and we may get a bit of a jam going too.

Here are some pictures from a busy evening.

18th February 2009

What started out looking again like it was going to be a quiet night turned out to be - well, sadly - a rather quiet night. Which was a pity as the House Band were in very fine fettle and played a great extended set. However, an outbreak of sore throats, emmigrations and holidays took a bit of a toll and we had just one guest performer, so unlike last month when folk were queing up to play. Here's hoping we will back to busy next month, which should be 18th March (TBC.) With a bit of luck we should have a keyboard player, so rumour has it.

Here's some pix from the evening.
